How to Password Protect Your WordPress Page

While assisting a client with a WordPress problem I was asked if I knew how to password protect an individual page/post. I thought I would share the directions below just in case you’re having the same trouble:

  1. Navigate to the Page/Post landing page
  2. Hover over the Page/Post to reveal the quick links below the Page/Post title
  3. Choose “Edit” from the quick link options to reveal the Page/Post in edit mode
  4. To the right you will notice a “Publish” box that shows the following options (Status, Visibility, Revisions, Published On)
  5. Choose the “Edit” link next to “Visibility”
  6. Simply click “Password protected” and enter a password of your choice
I hope these instructions help.
